Outreach and interest link settings

What it is

Two organization-wide toggles that control what happens when a candidate is shortlisted to a job for the first time: Email outreach and Video screening interview. See From apply to video interview for the full funnel these toggles feed into.

Steps

Email outreach — when on, candidates get an email with their interest-confirmation link (/j/{jobId}/{candidateId}) the first time they're shortlisted to a job.
Video screening interview — when on, a candidate who confirms interest is automatically sent a video interview link (provided the job has interview questions).
Click Save outreach settings after any change.

Good to know

This is the single most important setting to get right before doing any bulk shortlisting. The UI shows Email outreach as OFF by default when it has never been explicitly saved — but the underlying system default is to send outreach. If your organization has never opened this screen and saved a choice, outreach emails may already be going out even though the toggle currently displays OFF. If you want to guarantee outreach is off, turn the toggle off and click Save at least once.
Video screening interview defaults to on at the system level when unset.
These are organization-wide defaults. An individual job can still override the flow with its own "Send video interview directly" setting (see Create a job), which skips the interest step entirely regardless of these toggles.
WhatsApp outreach exists as a backend capability for some organizations but has no toggle in this screen — you cannot enable or disable it yourself; it's configured by your account team.

Common questions

I turned off Email outreach — why did a candidate still get an email? Check whether the specific job has "Send video interview directly" enabled — that path sends a video invite independent of this org-wide email outreach toggle.
Do candidates get a WhatsApp message? Only if your organization has WhatsApp outreach configured on the backend — there's no self-service control for it here.
What's the interest link candidates land on? /j/{jobId}/{candidateId}, a public page where they confirm interest.
Can a member (non-admin) change these settings? No — this section is admin-only.
If I turn off Video screening interview, do existing scheduled invites get cancelled? No — the toggle only affects future first-time interest confirmations, not invites already sent.
