Role Summary

Lead and deliver mechanical engineering activities across multiple projects, providing technical direction, people leadership, and cross-functional coordination. The role is responsible for high-quality, cost-effective and timely engineering solutions, engineering standards, team capability, and technical coordination with project management, manufacturing, global engineering teams and customers.

Key Responsibilities

·        Lead mechanical design, analysis and engineering execution across multiple projects.

·        Develop and review customer product design proposals, 2D drawings, 3D CAD models and BOMs from prototype through production.

·        Lead design reviews, engineering calculations, FEA validation and engineering approvals.

·        Plan, assign and monitor team activities to meet project schedules, quality standards and cost targets.

·        Review designs for compliance with engineering principles, company standards, customer requirements and applicable specifications.

·        Coordinate with global engineering teams and customers on technical reviews and design feasibility.

·        Collaborate with Electrical, Controls, Automation, Virtual Commissioning and Manufacturing teams.

·        Drive root-cause analysis and corrective actions for design, manufacturing and field issues.

·        Drive process enhancement, quality improvement, standardization, design reuse and continuous improvement.

·        Support design change management, engineering documentation and product lifecycle activities.

·        Guide and develop team members, including technical problem-solving, training and skill development.

·        Support supplier technical discussions, evaluations and design reviews.

Mandatory Technical Skills

·        9+ years of mechanical engineering / mechanical design experience.

·        Hands-on experience as a Technical Lead or Project Lead in an engineering function.

·        Strong mechanical product/machine design experience covering concept development, detailed design, validation and release.

·        Strong 2D drawing and 3D CAD modelling experience.

·        Hands-on knowledge of Autodesk Inventor, SolidWorks and/or AutoCAD; exposure to PTC Creo is relevant.

·        Strong GD&T and tolerance stack-up knowledge.

·        Experience with engineering calculations, FEA and design validation.

·        Knowledge of DFM, DFA and DFC principles.

·        BOM creation and maintenance using SAP and/or ERP systems.

·        Experience coordinating with manufacturing teams on design feasibility and resolving technical issues.

·        Experience leading root-cause analysis and corrective actions.

·        Working knowledge of engineering standards/codes such as ISO, ASME, DIN, ASTM or BIS.

·        Strong customer-facing and cross-functional technical coordination skills.

Preferred Domain Experience

·        Powertrain assembly lines.

·        End-of-line (EOL) testing equipment.

·        Automation for automobile / vehicle testing and calibration.

·        Benchmarking and reverse engineering using conventional measurement concepts.

·        Kaizen, Poka-Yoke, FMEA, 5S and continuous improvement practices.

Independent Judgement / Leadership

·        Independently plan and execute mechanical engineering activities and select suitable design approaches, materials and manufacturing methods.

·        Make decisions on task prioritization, resource utilization and technical trade-offs within project objectives, standards and budgets.

·        Independently execute projects and ensure customer technical requirements are met.
