Objectives of the Role: We are seeking an experienced Record-to-Report Business Analyst with strong knowledge of GL close, manual journal entries, account reconciliation, balance sheet substantiation, close task management, controls and ERP-led finance transformation. This role will lead R2R discovery, create BRDs and translate finance requirements into delivery-ready user stories and acceptance criteria.

Responsibilities

• R2R Discovery & Current-State Assessment: Lead discovery across GL close, journal entry automation, reconciliations, intercompany, balance sheet review, close calendar, task tracking, variance analysis and reporting.

• BRD & Requirement Ownership: Own end-to-end BRD creation, refinement, review and client approval; document functional and non-functional requirements, data needs, integration points, risks and governance controls.

• User Stories & Traceability: Convert R2R requirements into user stories, acceptance criteria, business scenarios and functional specifications while maintaining traceability through design, build, SIT, UAT and go-live.

• ERP & Data Integration: Define integration requirements across SAP S/4HANA, Oracle Cloud Financials, Oracle EBS, Dynamics 365, BlackLine, Trintech, OneStream, Workday, NetSuite or equivalent platforms.

• Client & Stakeholder Management: Independently conduct workshops, process playbacks, BRD walkthroughs and sign-off sessions with controllers, GL leads, close managers, audit, IT and transformation teams.

• Delivery & Testing Support: Review solution design, sprint backlog, UAT scenarios, test cases and defects from an R2R business perspective; support training, readiness and hypercare.

Technical Skills                  

• Deep knowledge of Record-to-Report including GL close, journals, reconciliations, intercompany, close task management, variance analysis, balance sheet review, controls and reporting.

• Strong understanding of GL balances, journal entries, sub-ledger data, reconciliation files, bank data, intercompany data, close task status and reporting layers.

• Experience documenting BRDs, process flows, business rules, functional requirements, user stories and acceptance criteria.

• Exposure to BlackLine, Trintech, SAP, Oracle, Dynamics, Workday, NetSuite, OneStream, Power BI, SQL, JIRA or Confluence preferred.

Soft skills (Desired)

• Strong client-facing communication with ability to engage controllers, finance leaders and IT stakeholders.

• Ability to articulate complex close and reconciliation requirements in clear business language.

• Strong documentation, analytical problem-solving and ownership mindset.

Education Requirements: Graduate/ MBA Finance / CA / CPA / B.Com / M.Com or relevant finance / technology qualification preferred

Work Experience Requirements:  Must Have:

• 8-10 years of relevant experience as a Business Analyst / R2R SME / Functional Consultant / Finance Transformation Consultant.

• Rich hands-on R2R domain experience across GL close, journals, reconciliation, intercompany and reporting.

• Must have handled discovery independently and should be able to draft and drive BRD approval.

• Must be able to articulate requirements into user stories, acceptance criteria, UAT scenarios and solution traceability.

• Notice period less than 30 days preferred.

Preferred Skills:

• Experience in financial close transformation, GL automation, reconciliation automation, shared services, consulting or finance operations.

• Exposure to audit, controllership, SOX controls, ERP integrations, UAT and hypercare preferred.
