Job Summary

We are looking for a skilled Backend Engineer to join our Digital and AI Solutions Engineering team, focused on building and supporting backend APIs of a next-generation agentic platform for Finance and Accounting operations. You will design and deliver the interfaces and services that make complex AI-driven workflows accessible and actionable for human users — including human-in-the-loop worklists, exception management dashboards, tenant configuration tools, visual field mappers, and platform reporting.

This role sits at the intersection of enterprise platform engineering. You will work .NET Core and Python for backend APIs and services, and PostgreSQL for data storage, with containerised workloads deployed on EKS. You will also work with Temporal.io for workflow orchestration and Azure services such as Event Grid, Service Bus, Data Factory, Databricks, Logic Apps, and Blob Storage. You will collaborate closely with AI engineers, backend platform engineers, and finance domain SMEs to deliver a product that is both technically solid and genuinely usable by finance operations teams.

Key Responsibilities

•         Design and implement RESTful APIs and supporting services in .NET Core and Python that serve the frontend, connecting UI interactions to the underlying platform services — orchestration, exception routing, approval workflows, audit trail, and notifications.

•         Design PostgreSQL schemas, data models, and access patterns for workflow state, tenant configuration, exception lifecycle records, audit events, and reporting needs.

•         Integrate with enterprise authentication and role-based access control patterns — ensuring that tenant isolation, approver role restrictions, and audit trail requirements are enforced at the API layer.

•         Collaborate with AI and backend engineers to surface LLM-generated recommendations, confidence scores, and agent reasoning in the UI in a way that helps human reviewers make faster, better-informed decisions.

•         Ensure frontend observability — client-side error tracking, performance monitoring, and usage analytics — to support continuous improvement of the user experience across clients.

Required Skills

5+ years of backend development experience with strong proficiency in .NET Core and Python.

•         Strong backend engineering experience in .NET and Python.

•         Hands-on experience with EKS, PostgreSQL, Temporal.io, and Azure services including Event Grid, Service Bus, Data Factory, Databricks, Logic Apps, and Blob Storage.

•         Experience building and consuming RESTful APIs — including API design, versioning, error handling, and pagination.

•         Understanding of authentication and authorisation patterns — OAuth 2.0, JWT, session management, and role-based access control.

Preferred Qualifications

•         Solid experience with PostgreSQL — schema design, indexing, query optimisation, transactional data modelling, and performance tuning for high-throughput application workloads.

•         Experience with CI/CD pipelines and containerised deployments using Docker and Kubernetes/EKS.

•         Familiarity with audit trail and compliance requirements in regulated environments.

•         Experience integrating applications with Azure-native services such as Event Grid, Service Bus, Data Factory, Databricks, Logic Apps, and Blob Storage.

•         Understanding of Finance and Accounting KPIs — STP rate, first-pass match rate, exception aging — and how operational teams use these metrics to manage performance.
