Key Responsibilities
Backup & Disaster Recovery
· Design, deploy, and manage Veeam Backup & Replication across diverse global locations, focusing on local site backups for on-premises legacy hardware, VMware, and Hyper-V environments.
· Manage extensive tape backup operations, acting as the primary liaison with local resources at global sites to ensure proper tape rotation, physical media security, and overall backup success.
· Lead the development and maintenance of DR runbooks, periodic recovery testing, and adherence to defined RPO/RTO objectives.
Storage Management
· Master and manage mixed local storage configurations (SAN/NAS) at each global site, ensuring high availability, optimal performance, and security of all workloads.
· Collaborate with Network and Storage teams on VLANs, routing/firewall rules, NTP/DNS, load balancing designs, SAN/NAS connectivity, and multipathing.
Core Platform Administration (Tertiary Support)
· Provide backend admin support for Windows Server environments, including installation, hardening, patching, performance tuning, and lifecycle management.
· Support virtualization infrastructure, including VMware vSphere / Microsoft HyperV: ESXi host builds and HyperV host deployment, vCenter and HyperV Manager/SCVMM administration.
Monitoring & Observability
· Monitor daily backup job success, storage capacity limits, and physical hardware health across all locations.
· Conduct health, capacity, and performance monitoring; alert tuning and root-cause analysis.
Documentation & Process
· Maintain as-built docs, runbooks, standards, and diagrams.
· Participate in on-call rotation, major incident response, and problem management; provide clear communications and post-incident reports.
Required Qualifications
· 5+ years of progressive experience engineering and administering Veeam Backup & Replication in large, distributed environments.
· Deep, hands-on expertise with physical tape backup infrastructure, library management, and remote coordination for media handling.
· Strong experience managing mixed local storage environments (SAN, NAS, direct-attached) across various hardware vendors.
· Strong experience with VMware vSphere (ESXi/vCenter), including HA/DRS, resource management, and lifecycle/patching of hosts.
· Strong understanding of security hardening, patching processes, and change control in regulated environments.
· Excellent troubleshooting skills across Windows/VMware/Network layers; strong documentation and communication skills.
Education & Certifications (Nice to Have)
· Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, or equivalent experience.
· Veeam: Veeam Certified Engineer (VMCE) or Veeam Certified Architect (VMCA).
· Microsoft: Microsoft Certified preferred - Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate, or legacy MCSA/MCSE with strong emphasis on Windows Server administration, system management, and HyperV administration.
· VMware: VCP-DCV (or higher).
