Tableau Admin - 5-8 yr experience

Detailed JD - 

Core Responsibilities

1. Tableau Content Migration Execution (Primary Responsibility)

·       Perform end-to-end migration of Tableau assets, including:

o   Workbooks, dashboards, and reports

o   Published data sources and extracts

o   Projects, permissions, and schedules

·       Rebind dashboards to new data sources on target server

·       Ensure metadata, ownership, and dependencies are preserved

·       Execute migration using:

o   Tableau UI

o   Tableau REST API / CLI tools (preferred)

2. Data & Extract Validation

·       Validate migrated data sources by:

o   Comparing row counts and aggregates

o   Verifying key business metrics

·       Ensure extract refreshes are:

o   Successfully scheduled

o   Running within SLAs

·       Troubleshoot:

o   Data connectivity issues

o   Credential failures

o   Extract performance problems

3. Dashboard & Functional Testing

·       Perform end-to-end functional validation of dashboards:

o   Filters, parameters, drill-downs

o   Actions and navigation

o   Visual accuracy

·       Validate:

o   Export functionality

o   Subscriptions and alerts

·       Compare outputs between source and target platforms

4. Migration Tracking & Reporting

• Maintain migration tracker including:

  • Assets migrated

  • Validation status

  • Defects and resolution

• Provide regular updates to:

  • Migration lead / program team

  • Business stakeholders

5. Cutover & Post-Migration Support

• Support cutover activities:

  • Disable schedules on source platform

  • Enable schedules on target platform

  • Validate production readiness

• Perform post-cutover checks:

  • Dashboard availability

  • Subscription delivery

  • User access issues

Required Skills & Experience

Technical Skills

·       Strong hands-on experience with:

o   Tableau Server / Tableau Cloud administration – 2025, 2026

·       Experience with:

o   Content migration and republishing

o   Extract refresh management and troubleshooting

·       Working knowledge of:

o   SSO / SAML (Azure Entra preferred)

o   Data connectivity (Databricks, EDWH, SQL, etc.)

·       Familiarity with:

o   Tableau REST API / Tableau CLI
