The role
Job description
We’re looking for an intern who loves games to playtest every level and design new ones. Levels are written as simple JavaScript data, so you’ll see your designs playable in the browser the same day.
What you’ll do
- Playtest levels on desktop and mobile: check difficulty, find bugs, and confirm every level can be finished and all 3 stars can be collected.
- Report issues clearly, with steps to reproduce, screenshots or short screen recordings.
- Design new levels with our JavaScript level builder: road layout, jumps, obstacles, star placement and the visual theme.
- Follow our level design rules:
- one new idea per level
- difficulty that rises gently
- every level beatable with a single button
- Prototype new obstacles and roadside objects in Three.js: low-poly models built from code (boxes, cylinders, simple materials), such as new street props or fun moving objects.
- Tune the look of levels: sky colours, fog, lighting, rain and snow.
- Check performance on lower-end phones and help keep the game running smoothly.
- Capture gameplay screenshots and short clips for store listings and social media.
Must have
- Good basics of JavaScript (ES6: arrays, objects, functions, modules)
- Basic understanding of Three.js or 3D concepts (scene, camera, mesh, material, lights), even from tutorials or personal projects
- A real interest in games and game feel: you notice when a jump, turn or obstacle feels unfair, boring or fun
