Role Overview

Join Microsoft as a Software Engineer II in Bengaluru, Karnataka, India, and be part of the Azure Storage team, responsible for building and managing the largest Object Storage service in the world. This role offers the opportunity to work on distributed systems that scale to exabytes of storage, powering millions of Azure virtual machines and supporting major online businesses.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to determine user requirements for features.
  • Identify dependencies and develop design documents for products/services with minimal oversight.
  • Create and implement code for products, services, or features, reusing code as applicable.
  • Break down larger work items into smaller tasks and provide estimations.
  • Act as a Designated Responsible Individual (DRI) on-call to monitor system/product features for degradation or downtime, and restore services for simple issues.
  • Stay current with developments to enhance product availability, reliability, efficiency, and performance while ensuring consistency in monitoring and operations at scale.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a related technical field AND 3+ years of technical engineering experience with coding in languages such as C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python.
  • OR equivalent experience.
  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer, and/or government security screening requirements, including the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in Computer Science or a related technical field AND 3+ years of technical engineering experience with coding in languages such as C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python.
  • OR Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a related technical field AND 5+ years of technical engineering experience with coding in languages such as C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python.
  • OR equivalent experience.
  • Experience in designing and building large-scale distributed systems.
  • Strong foundation in data structures and algorithms with debugging and analytical skills.
  • Knowledge of systems programming, operating systems, distributed systems, databases, cloud services, and multi-threaded systems.
