Role Overview
As a Software Engineer II at JPMorganChase in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India, you will be part of the Commercial & Investment Bank - Payments Technology team. This role offers you the opportunity to enhance, design, and deliver software components for the firm's advanced technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable manner.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute standard software solutions, including design, development, and technical troubleshooting.
- Write secure and high-quality code using at least one programming language with limited guidance.
- Utilize enterprise-authorized AI coding assist tools to improve code quality, delivery speed, and productivity, while validating outputs through peer review and automated testing.
- Design, develop, code, and troubleshoot with an understanding of upstream and downstream systems.
- Apply knowledge of tools within the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) toolchain to enhance automation value.
- Conduct technical troubleshooting to resolve basic complexity issues.
- Analyze large, diverse data sets to identify problems and support decision-making for secure application development.
- Learn and apply methodologies for developing secure and stable code and systems.
Required Qualifications
- Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts and 2+ years of applied experience (NAMR/APAC – India/LATAM/Hong Kong).
- Hands-on practical experience in Agentic AI, Java, AWS, Spring Boot, and Kafka.
- Experience in developing, debugging, and maintaining code in a large corporate environment using modern programming and database querying languages.
- Proficient in using enterprise-authorized AI-assisted software development tools and critically evaluating AI-generated outputs.
- Understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows, including data sensitivity and secure handling of inputs/outputs.
- Experience across the entire Software Development Life Cycle.
- Exposure to agile methodologies such as CI/CD, Application Resiliency, and Security.
Preferred Qualifications
- Full stack Java developer experience in enterprise application development.
- Strong experience in SDLC delivery using Agile methodologies.
- At least two years of experience with Java 17+.
- Experience in developing microservices deployed in AWS Elastic Kubernetes Service and/or Elastic Container Service, and on EC2 instances.
- Experience writing Terraform scripts and deploying in AWS production environments.
- Familiarity with at least one relational database management system (preferably Oracle or PostgreSQL).
