Role Overview
As a Software Engineer III at JPMorganChase in Hyderabad, Telangana, you will enhance your software engineering career by designing and delivering secure, stable, and scalable technology products within the Consumer and Community Banking sector. You will be a key member of an agile team responsible for implementing critical technology solutions that align with the firm's business objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute software solutions, including design, development, and technical troubleshooting, while thinking beyond conventional approaches to solve technical problems.
- Create secure, high-quality production code and maintain algorithms that operate synchronously with relevant systems.
- Utilize enterprise-authorized AI coding assist tools to enhance code quality, delivery speed, and productivity across complex deliverables, while validating outputs through peer review and automated testing.
- Apply knowledge of tools within the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) to maximize the value of automation.
- Develop and enhance Java-based backend services for high-volume transaction processing.
- Build and operate solutions using AWS services (e.g., Aurora Postgres, ECS/Fargate, EC2) focusing on scalability, reliability, and performance.
- Collaborate with senior engineers and architects during solution design and participate in design reviews to ensure alignment with technical standards and business needs.
- Promote strong engineering practices, including code reviews, CI/CD, testing, observability, and documentation, while continuously improving the codebase.
- Work with product managers and stakeholders to clarify requirements and translate them into technical deliverables.
- Support security and compliance requirements by applying secure coding practices and adhering to Community Banking standards and regulatory expectations.
Required Qualifications
- Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts and a minimum of 3 years of applied experience.
- Demonstrated experience in Java backend development, object-oriented design, and common design patterns.
- Experience with AWS services (e.g., Aurora Postgres, ECS/Fargate, Glue, and/or Airflow) and building distributed services.
- Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to learn quickly in complex domains.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively across engineering and product teams.
- Hands-on experience in system design, application development, testing, and operational stability.
- Experience in developing, debugging, and maintaining code in a large corporate environment using modern programming languages and database querying languages.
- Practical experience with enterprise-authorized AI-assisted software development tools, demonstrating the ability to evaluate and refine AI-generated outputs for correctness, performance, and security.
- Understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows, including data sensitivity considerations and secure handling of inputs/outputs.
- Comprehensive knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle and solid understanding of agile methodologies such as CI/CD, Application Resiliency, and Security.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in financial services and/or connected commerce is a plus, but not required.
- Familiarity with AI-assisted coding tools (e.g., Copilot) is advantageous (confirm tool approval for your environment before use).
- Familiarity with modern front-end technologies.
- Exposure to cloud technologies.
