We are looking for an experienced Senior Software Engineer – F# / .NET to design, develop, and maintain high-quality backend systems and APIs.
The ideal candidate should have strong hands-on experience with F# in production environments, functional programming principles, and the .NET ecosystem. This is a hands-on engineering role requiring strong backend development, domain modelling, testing, database design, and cloud deployment experience.
· Design and develop scalable backend services and APIs using F# and .NET.
· Apply functional programming principles, including immutability, composition, purity, and strong type-driven design.
· Model complex business domains using algebraic data types and discriminated unions.
· Implement robust error-handling patterns and maintain clean, reliable application logic.
· Build and maintain REST and/or gRPC APIs.
· Develop high-quality unit, integration, and property-based tests.
· Work with relational databases and design scalable schemas, migrations, and data-access solutions.
· Integrate F# applications with C#/.NET applications and third-party services.
· Ensure application performance, reliability, observability, logging, tracing, and monitoring.
· Contribute to CI/CD pipelines, containerization, and cloud deployment.
· Participate in code reviews and technical design discussions.
· Write technical documentation and contribute to backend architecture decisions.
· Mentor engineers and support team members in functional programming practices.
· Work closely with internal and external technical stakeholders to understand and deliver backend solutions.
· 5+ years of professional software engineering experience.
· Strong hands-on production experience with F#.
· Strong understanding of functional programming concepts, including:
o Immutability
o Higher-order functions
o Function composition
o Pure functions
o Type-driven development
· Strong knowledge of the .NET platform, including .NET 6/8+.
· Experience with ASP.NET Core.
· Good understanding of asynchronous programming and task-based concurrency.
· Experience managing dependencies and packages using NuGet.
· Comfortable working with both F# and C# in mixed-language applications.
· Experience designing and consuming REST and/or gRPC APIs.
· Strong SQL and relational database design skills.
· Experience with ORM or other data-access technologies.
· Strong testing experience, including unit and integration testing.
· Experience with property-based testing.
· Hands-on experience with Git and version control workflows.
· Experience with CI/CD pipelines.
· Experience with Docker and containerization.
· Experience deploying applications on AWS, Azure, or GCP.
· Strong written and verbal communication skills.
· Comfortable participating in technical discussions with stakeholders.
· Experience with Domain-Driven Design (DDD).
